I Know Better Now

Going back to day I picked my son in school, I have to take note that after the class was dismissed, I saw my son Matt “transformed” from quiet to active and playful. Infact, the moment they were out to the activity area, he immediately engaged in a throwing match with his best pal, KJ. They were throwing plastic fruits and vegetables against each other. (Haaay, kids really don’t need any  fat burner!  Just give them toys and they get all the exercise they need *smiles*)

Had I not read  Positive Discipline, I know I would have seen this as NOT play. I would have seen this as “fighting” and would have interferred.  But I have read something about “rough play”, and I carefully observed the facial expression of my son and his friend.  And I saw that they’re really just playing and having fun.

Looking at their happy and excited, it’s just a pity that I have to tell my son that it’s time to go home   (and we didn’t have a minute to spare since we have a cab waiting outside).
