Awww Really?

About to sleep, Matt suddenly turned to look at me and asked: “Mom, why is your hair curly?”

”Because God gave me curly hair.” I told him simply.

But my son told me in no-nonsense voice, “I don’t want curly hair. I only want straight hair.”

And then he looked at me,  eyed my hair with amusement and said, ” Mom, you look like a — “

Oh no, not witch. But while half-expecting him to say “witch”, I heard him finish off with –

“Dancer.” And he smiled. Or was it a smirk? :-)

Qtime With My Son

This morning, we went to see Matt’s pedia to have his follow-up check up. As expected (and hoped for), the doctor gave him a clearance. Praise God!

We went to the mall afterwards to pick up some supplies. I always love bringing my son to the mall/to the groceries -because he is a pleasant company and a willing helper. He certainly enjoys going there, too — y’know exploring at the toyshops and the supermarket. :-)

Okay that’s my short update for the day, gotta go and check designs of stainless steel tiles now.

A-ok

Looking at the amount of medicine left in the bottle, today could be the last day of Matt’s medication (for his tonsilitis). :-)  Am glad; real glad that he’s back to his active and “eater” self. :-)  And I believe my son is, too since he doesn’t like  taking that medicine despite its fruit punch flavor. And tonsilitis is surely a torture for someone who really loves to eat. :-)

We’ll be back to the doctor on Friday for a follow up check up but I’m confident that everything is A-ok.

So that’s my update of the day.  Off I scoot to check some  barcode scanners. Have a lovely day!

Ferdinand Uses the Potty

PhotobucketAnd we finally got the copy of Ferdinand Uses the Potty book! Yipeee!

Reviewing the book before reading it to my son, I thought to myself what a blessing. I know Ferdinand Uses the Potty book, which tells a tale about Ferdinand the Frog who wets his bed but eventually conquers his potty fear,  is an apt story to read to my son since  he is in the stage of mastering the skill of not wetting the bed at night. (So now you know our bed and our room stinks of urine! :-) )  Okay, Matt does use the potty all the time. He knows how to  poop and pee there, and even uses the flush, too. But it’s actually the bedwetting at night that he has yet to master.

As for the book, before reading it too him I knew he would enjoy it-thoroughly. And boy was I right. The first time I read the book to him, he was all giggles. Maybe it was because of the colorful and beautifully drawn illustrations all over the book. Or maybe it was just the way the story was presented. I believe it was both plus the fact that the language used in the story can be easily understood by young children. Moreover, the story was written using a rhyming scheme, albeit irregularly, that could be appealing to kids. Infact, Matt was laughing out loud when we got to the part when Ferdie the Frog asked: “I…wet my bed? Are you sure that it came out of me?”  And he was tickled pink with the term “tinkle.” And so we have been using the word tinkle from then on!

He loves the book so much -so much that  after that first time, he asked for me to read it twice to him! And everytime, he never fails to laugh aloud on those parts I mentioned. And actually, the Ferdinand Uses the Potty book is on the table beside our bed as I type this post. :-) So if my son’s reactions were bases to  this review, then I would give a two-thumbs up for this book.

Special thanks to ParentReviewers for this wonderful book.

I really marvel at my son’s knack of troubleshooting electrical/electronic problems. I mean at 3yo (now he’s 4), he’s already mastered the process.

For example, no sound coming out from the PC external speakers. To troubleshoot this, Matt would go down to check if the power cable is plugged in the socket (take note that among the plugs below our table, he can identify which plug is for which device i.e speakers, router, VR etc..). If it’s not plugged, he’d put it on the outlet (he also checks if the outlet is switched on since there’s a red light indicator for “on”; if it’s not, he’d flick the switch on). Then, he’d check if the speaker power is turned on (if not, he turns the knob on) and turns up the knob for the volume. If his efforts do not give the expected result, which rarely happens, he’d then call Mom. ;-)

Have I told you that he knows how to operate the PSP better than I do?

And he can identify which charger is for which device at home i.e. phone, PSP, netbook etc..?

And looking at some ipods now, I remember something. Have I mentioned that he taught me a simple trick in my ipod Touch when he was 3? He surely did.

So is it safe to think that he have acquired some “tinkering” genes from Pops and me then? ;-) :-)

My mother and I surely lost some sleep watching over Matt last night. He had a very fever (about 39-sh and ups!) that won’t let up even a after a dose of paracetamol. But gotta my mother who did an amazing job taking care of him, sponging him when he was so hot and while I take small naps. In my heart, I feel I just cannot thank her enough for everything she does for us all.

Anyway, after a fretful night, we were finally able to see Matt’s pedia, who confirmed the normal result of the scan (take after he fell off the bed the other night). Moreover, the doctor -upon a follow check-up- diagnosed Matt of tonsilitis. Oh what a relief it is that we can now pinpoint a cause of the fever!

P.S. I’m really thinking on what to do with our bare floor tiles in our room, which already caused me to go back and for the the Blameland. Really gotta figure out for my son’s safety.

Scared, Relieved…

Lemme just write a short update before I check on mortgage life insurance rates.

Today (actually very early today), I had the scare of the month. Matt fell into the bed while I was in Dreamland!  His cries woke me up and I felt (still feel) so sorry. I actually feel bad for not being able to prevent this. I blame myself.

The fall still not forgotten, at 10AM, I got all the more anxious and concerned because my son felt feverish; I had to bring him to the  doctor.  Short of the story, Matt had to go through CT scan. Although the doctor says falling from the bed is a minor thing, we just had to be sure.

At 5PM, we received a message from the technician that the result’s already available. And I was so relieved that, as the technician confirmed, everything is normal as indicated in the result (although I still need to talk to the pedia for the result).
